Mental Health Professionals are bound by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). The times that confidentiality may be broken is if there are reports of abuse or neglect to a child, elderly person, or disabled person; if the clinician is subpoenaed for any reason; or if the clinician believes you are at risk of hurting yourself or someone else. At any time, you may sign a release of information that allows the clinician to communicate or receive information from an individual or organization that you deem appropriate. If decided to do this, there is no guarantee that they may not share HIPAA information and that is separate from identified clinician. If seen outside of the therapy room, clinician will not identify client, but if decided client may come up and speak to clinician, though no therapeutic information will be shared in the community.
If your clinician uses telehealth systems, it is the responsibility of the client to ensure they are in a space that is confidential. Your phone number will be used exclusively to send you messages you have opted to receive based on your consent. We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties.
